One of the city’s oldest lgbtq+ bars, Jeffery Pub is a neighborhood institution. The South Shore staple is also one of Chicago’s first black-owned gay bars, making it all the more meaningful for the spot’s many regulars. Piano & Cabaret opened in after a major face raise. It served previously as Annex 3, once a famous stomping ground for gay athletes. Long-time owner Jim Flint felt the bar needed to be revamped, renamed and, although it remains a gay bar, openly welcomes people of all ages and sexual preferences. It offers a different atmosphere then most Boystown bars even though its located a little off the Boystown strip on Clark Street, just south of Belmont.
features some of the top cabaret and piano entertainment in Chicago and occasionally welcomes talent from all over the United States. Stay music is featured five nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday, with certain nights reserved for regular performers. Theres never a cover charge, a perk that is hard to find, especially at bars in Boystown and throughout the city for that matter.

For the piano-bar fiend who likes his joints a little more Grace than Will, this underground spot should strike all the right notes. But even though the guys here aren’t same-sex attracted, they’re at least dressed well: Bouncers inspect outfits as well as your ID, and flip-flops and T-shirts don’t get through the door.
