Sitges gay scene
When it comes to gay journey, Spain is one of the best and most exciting destinations you can visit.
We have experienced many of Spain’s popular homosexual destinations but we have to say, Sitges is our favourite gay hotspot in Spain!
Sitges is well-known for its Mediterranean beaches, pretty narrow streets, stunning marina and especially for its lgbtq+ scene. The gay scene is so prominent here in Sitges, it takes centre stage in the main part of town. In fact, if you Google ‘Sitges’, it specifically mentions that it is filled with lgbtq+ bars. This is not just a town or city with a gay scene; in our opinion it is a same-sex attracted town!
What a lot of people do not realise is that they can easily visit from Barcelona (which is very popular). Sitges is just 30 minutes southwest from Barcelona by instruct – see below for instructions.
Let’s take a look at all that Sitges has to extend in our ‘Sitges Gay Guide’ and find out why we can’t wait to return!

Sitges is a popular destination for the gay traveller. It is often said that Sitges is one of the gay capitals of Europe. By day there is an open and warm atmosphere, with gay couples at ease to be intimate and affectionate, and at night there is a large scene of gay clubs and bars.
One of the highlights of Sitges' calender year is carnival in February. This Mardi Gras event sees drag queens, bears and cubs and exhibitionists from all over Spain leader to the town. The event is enjoyed by young and old, homosexual and straight, but it's definitely an opportunity to be yourself and strut your stuff.

About Sitges and its gay life
Sitges is a small town 35 km south-western of Barcelona. In the after time 19th century Sitges started to become a mecca for artists and a center for Modernist and post Art Nouveau architects. During the s (under the conservative dictatorship of Franco) it became a center for the counterculture in Spain.
Nowadays, Sitges' economy is based mainly on upscale tourism, business meetings and conferences. Unlike most other coasts in Spain which were taken over by inexpensive mass tourism in the s and s, Sitges fortunately preserved its distinct atmosphere of a charming and pleasant (but also more expensive) place to relax and have joy.
This attracted also more and more same-sex attracted tourists and expatriates, and
