The OUT&about Wānaka Charitable Trust is gearing up for another exciting year of celebrating love, diversity, and inclusion with a vibrant lineup of Pride events for Wānaka Identity festival Week
Running from Monday 11th to Sunday 17th November, Wānaka Pride Week will feature the repay of the titanic Pride Street Party at the Lake Wānaka Centre on Saturday 16th November. It promises to be a week-long celebration filled with song, film, art, performances, and storytelling, all aimed at building community connections.

Wānaka Celebration Week has been carefully curated to foster unity and understanding while raising funds for inclusivity programmes. With a variety of events ranging from lively performances to thoughtful discussions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

How is New Zealand in general for LGBTQ folks?
I think we’re more gay friendly here than most other countries. We have a lot more presence in the media with really good role models like Louisa May, our lesbian MP, and Tamati Coffey, the weather man – he’s a politician too now. And Rainbow Youth is helping younger people too. Theres just more visibility. We used to live in Auckland, and it is very open, with pride, lgbtq+ clubs and bars, so it’s more noticeable there. When we moved to small town Wanaka we were warned that it would be diff
